Carly Pearce Reacts To Dolly Parton’s Invite To Join Opry

It’s a big week for Carly Pearce! On Tuesday, August 3rd, Carly will check off a childhood dream and join the Grand Ole Opry as their newest official member.

In a recent interview with Cody Alan, the “Next Girl” singer retells the full-circle story of Dolly Parton asking her to join country music’s most prestigious family.

“Oh my gosh! Well, I thought that I was doing a Dollywood commercial,” shares Carly, who at 16 years old left her Kentucky home to take a job performing at Dollywood.

“When [Dolly Parton] walked out, I kind of just thought, “Oh my gosh! I get to do this Dollywood commercial with Dolly! That’s kind of a dream come true!”

“Then, she said, “Opry,” and I was like, “Ok, wait. She used the word. She kind of dropped it. I was like, “Um.” But, I was still in my head because I just always thought it would be on stage when it happened because I had never seen it done off the stage,” Carly recounts the monumental moment.

“When she asked, it was truly the biggest surprise of my life,” Carly says candidly. “I think the greatest thing to have ever happened to me.

In true Dolly Parton fashion, Carly’s next step would be finding the perfect outfit for the coveted event. Carly went on to tease that she is “really excited” with her fashion choice.

“I think that it’s the most prestigious family that you can ever be a part of, I think it’s the biggest honor in country music,” says the country star.

“I have said from the beginning, and especially now, I want to be a country music purist. I have no desire to go outside of our genre or explore that. That has never been my intention,” says Carly. “I dreamt of the Opry, and I dreamt of country music, and so for me, this is just the biggest honor, and I get to take that forever, and nobody can ever take that away from me.”
