New Artificial Fingerprints Could Hack Into Your Phone (REAL)

Researchers from New York University and Michigan State University have developed new artificial fingerprints that they say have the potential to be used to hack into your devices. According to the paper on their findings, the “DeepMasterPrints” they’ve generated can be used a sort of “masterkey” to unlock one-third of smartphones with fingerprint-based protection.

Many smartphone users opt for fingerprint unlocking features, even for apps with sensitive information like banking. But researchers are saying that it’s not as safe as you think, since the features only really capture and store a bunch of “partial fingerprints,” meaning a potential hacker only needs to match one of them to gain access to your device.

But in a statement, Clear, the firm behind the fingerprint recognition technologies used by Delta and Hertz, says they have “no question” that these “biometric” security features are a safer option. Other companies that utilize fingerprint security, like Apple, Google, Mastercard and Samsung, have yet to comment on the new research.

Colorblind Man Finally Sees Girlfriend's Blue Eyes While Proposing (REAL)

A colorblind man recently got to see his girlfriend’s blue eyes for the first time – and that’s not even all that was special about the moment! Thanks to some special glasses, Taylor Smith got to see in full color for the first time since discovering he was colorblind in his mid-twenties… and propose to his girlfriend during the special moment.

They’re called EnChroma glasses, specially designed to help give colorblind people the ability to see in technicolor. Smith had jeweler Timothy White order a pair of the glasses along with the ring made with a blue sapphire to match his girlfriend, Michelle Arnold’s eyes. But he waited until the proposal to actually try on the glasses.

That made for an extra special moment, with the added bonus of being able to see his girlfriend’s face “flush” during the proposal, which he says he “had never been able to see before.” “It was so beautiful to see her eyes for the first time,” he says. “They were so beautiful, like the ocean.” Check out a video of the moment to the right.
