In Los Angeles, even the restaurants get dressed up for Halloween. This year, Fat Sal’s iconic Hollywood sandwich shop transformed into McDowell’s from the 1988 movie “Coming to America.” Fat Sal’s changed their signage, decor, and even dressed staff in plaid uniforms just like the restaurant in the Eddie Murphy comedy.
Josh Stone, owner of Fat Sal’s, says they came up with the idea of dressing up the actual restaurant, and being huge fans of “Coming to America” the idea took off. They really went all out, including putting up a photo on the wall of McDowell’s proud employee of the month, Achim, and playing the film’s soundtrack on the speakers.
And then there’s the food. This McDowell’s serves up the Big Mick, too, along with Zamunda Fries, and they go perfectly with The Sexual Chocolates Shake, which comes with a whole slice of chocolate layer cake on top, as a garnish.
