British Woman Sues Dating Agency For Not Finding Her A Match…And WON!

A British woman has won a lawsuit against a dating service that failed to find her the wealthy boyfriend she was seeking, although whether she really won is questionable.

Tereza Burki joined the Seventy Thirty dating agency back in 2013 looking for a “sophisticated gentleman,” preferably working in finance with a “wealthy lifestyle.” He also had to be “open to traveling,” plus the mother of three wanted a fourth kid, so he had to be open to having children. Burki shelled out a $16,000 fee, but the agency never produced a guy, so she sued claiming she was misled by the agency, and a judge agreed.

Turns out, the agency’s managing director Lemarc Thomas claimed there was a substantial number of wealthy male members who would fit her criteria, but a judge determined that his claims where false and misleading, since there were only 100 active male members at the agency at the time and few met Burki’s requirements.

The judge ruled that if Burki had known about the lack of qualified men she probably wouldn’t have joined in the first place and she got her membership fee back, as well as $635 for distress. She did lose a defamation lawsuit Seven Thirty filed over a bad Google review, and had to pay them $6,300. The dating agency insists that Burki had “lofty and unrealistic” expectations about what they could provide.
