As we told you yesterday, Kevin Smith had suffered a massive heart attack. As fans adjusted to the news, Chris Pratt took to Twitter to send up prayers for the director – much to the chagrin of some trolls.
Chris tweeted, “Kevin, we don’t know each other too good, but I have loved you since ‘Clerks’ and I’m praying my [tail] off for you [be]cause I believe in the healing power of prayer.”
Some Twitter users were not impressed. They attacked Chris for his “thoughts and prayers” with the same argument people have been using in the wake of the recent mass shootings. They’ve said that thoughts and prayers aren’t enough. Some used science and medicine to discount prayer.
- Chris didn’t respond to the backlash. Instead, his “Guardians of the Galaxy” director, James Gunn, stepped in to show his support. He said, “There is nothing wrong with sending someone positive thoughts & prayers. But when this is coupled with inaction when action will benefit the situation, it’s empty.” Check out the tweets below...
