(VIDEO) Human Chain Saves Drowning Family

A potential tragedy at a Florida beach turned into a happy ending when strangers formed a human chain into the water to rescue a family stuck in the powerful waves. Roberta Ursery and her family were swimming at Panama City Beach when she realized she'd lost sight of her 8- and 11-year-old sons. They had drifted away from shore and the underwater currents were too strong for them to swim back. Because of the currents, nobody could get to them, which meant the boys were stuck. That's when strangers at the beach came to the rescue. They organized quickly, linked arms and formed a human chain.  There were 80 people in the chain before it was over and they were able to get the kids back to safety – and stay safe themselves.  When the family finally got their feet on dry land again, they were greeted by the sounds of cheering and clapping – and plenty of smiles all around.
