If an 'Officer Malone' claiming to be from the Eau Claire Sheriff's office contacts you, DO NOT follow his instructions.
The Eau Claire Sheriff's office has reported at least three separate incidents of a fake officer contacting citizens and telling them they have outstanding warrants. Further, the scam tells those people that they must go to Wal-Mart and post bond.
Eau Claire Sheriff's office says it DOES NOT have an Officer Malone' on staff and that they would not tell anyone to go post bond on a warrant at any type of business.
