Eau Claire High School Students In Macy's Day Parade

It will be a BIG day for 5 Eau Claire high school students on Thanksgiving.

WEAU 13 ran this story this morning and I wanted to share it and wish the kids the best of luck AND to enjoy the experience. Sarah Winklemann wrote the story.

The annual Macy's Day Thanksgiving Day parade is a huge event. Held in New York City, it is one of the largest parades in the world and got it's start in 1924.

Well this year, for 5 band students from Memorial High School, it will be a moment they will remember for a long time. They auditioned and were selected from who knows how many thousands of other prospective high school students across the country. These five made the finals. They will help make up an honor band of 230 other talented kids selected specifically for this event.

They will begin their journey to New York November 22nd for 7 days of rehearsing and plenty of sight-seeing.

They also would appreciate any and all help when it comes to travel expenses.

Here's more video with Sarah and Memorial's band Director.

One more to finish the story.
