It's been around, it seems like forever. The retailer got it's start in Green Bay in 1962. Now, it's all going away.
It is a sad day when a major retail store has to close it's doors. Especially one so near and dear to our hearts here in the Chippewa Valley. But, both the Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls ShopKo locations are closed.
What's even more sad is that 94 people lost their job at the Eau Claire location and 70 in Chippewa Falls. With other ShopKo stores closing such as Arcadia, Stanley, River Falls, Rice Lake and Neillsville more than 1,700 Wisconsin residents are without jobs.
Sunday at 6pm. Doors will close.
