Wal-Mart Is Closing Stores-Is Eau Claire or Chippewa Falls On The List?

Walmart is planning on closing or already has closed nearly 20 Supercenters and Neighborhood Market stores in 11 states.

Louisiana, Texas, Arizona, Washington, Virginia, Tennessee, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Kansas, California and Indiana are on the chopping block.

So, no Wisconsin stores are on the list.

That doesn't seem to be a very big number considering that Walmart owns and operates more than 4,700 stores, 3,750 Supercenters and almost 700 Neighborhood Markets in the U.S. alone.

The article from businessinsider.com states that the reason these stores are shutting their doors is not because of dwindling business. These closings are happening in areas where there are 2 or more Walmart stores in close proximity to each other.

As far as our Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls stores, if that is the reasoning behind the closings, we shouldn't have anything to worry about. I don't think our two stores take away from each other. In fact, I am surprised that we don't have another Walmart here in the Chippewa Valley.
