Reba McEntire arrived at the 2026 Grammy Awards with fiancé Rex Linn on Sunday evening (February 1). The show took place at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.

The legendary country star, 70, grinned ear-to-ear as she arrived in knee-high cowboy boots, black pants and a white blazer with a snakeskin pattern. Linn, 69, also arrived in black footwear with a black shirt and pants, along with a pinstripe jacket and paisley scarf.

The two Happy’s Place stars met while filming Kenny Rogers’ The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw in the early 1990s. They reconnected on the set of Young Sheldon in early 2020, and Linn invited McEntire to dinner. McEntire said while sharing the couple’s story on the Jennifer Hudson Show that after dinner, the couple “went down the street to a wine bar and they said, ‘well, I understand you’ve already had dinner, but we do have some good appetizers…we have tater tots.’” Linn decided in that moment that McEntire’s nickname would be “tater tot,” and McEntire decided to name Linn “sugar tot” in return. They’ve “been together ever since.”

McEntire, who is performing the In Memoriam tribute in her first-ever Grammys performance, confirmed her engagement to Linn in September 2025; however, she later revealed they’d been engaged since Christmas Eve 2024. McEntire told PEOPLE that “we were going to make the announcement when we got back to L.A. in January, and the fires happened. And it wasn’t appropriate. …He’s very romantic. Very romantic. It was up to him, totally. Yeah. I had no idea. It was a total surprise.

“Oh, never give up,” McEntire added to PEOPLE. “if you’re in heartbreak right now, just take care of yourself. Take care of your heart. And then be open with it.because I was not looking for love at all. So it just happens at the right time, right place. God’s timing is everything.”

It remains unclear when the couple will say “I do,” but McEntire said during an appearance on TODAY that “a Reba-Rex wedding is going to be very different. It’s gonna be low key, lots of fun, lots of people, lots of food. Our big motto is ‘have fun.’”
