The extended version with five new tracks ā including āSomewhere Over Laredoā ā will arrive on August 22, marking the one-year anniversary of Whirlwindās release. Wilson wrote her latest single with songwritersĀ Trannie Anderson,Ā Dallas WilsonĀ andĀ Andy Albert, honoring the timeless Wizard of Oz ballad performed by actressĀ Judy Garland. The āSomewhere Over the Rainbowā nod blends with Wilsonās tribute to her country upbringing and āwhirlwindā lifestyle.
āWhen Iām flying between shows I catch myself looking out the window, talking to God, dreaming, or even reminiscing,ā Wilson said on Friday. āāSomewhere Over Laredoā tells a story that speaks to that. Iāve always been inspired by putting myself into other peoplesā shoes and telling stories from othersā perspective, but Iāve found a new creative avenue with this one putting myself back into a pair of shoes that I wore years ago.ā
